libsane-extras-dbg software package provides API library for scanners -- extra backends [debug symbols], you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libsane-extras-dbg
libsane-extras-dbg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libsane-extras-dbg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libsane-extras-dbg *
You will get with libsane-extras-dbg package name, version, architecture and description in a table
